How many bags of cement to make 1m3 of concrete?
How many bags of cement to make 1m3 of concrete

This is one of the basic answers that every civil engineer should know still, a lot of students don’t know how many bags of cement to make 1m3 of concrete. Don’t worry we will help, please read the below article.
To arrive at different quantities of concrete ingredients, the Dry loose bulk density of materials plays an important role as they are batched loosely.
Considering Dry loose bulk density of following concrete ingredients as
Cement = 1400 kg/cum = 1.4 kg/ltr.
Fine Aggregate = 1600 kg/cum = 1.6 kg/ltr.
Coarse Aggregate = 1450 kg/cum = 1.45 kg/ltr.
water = 1000 kg/cum = 1 kg/ltr.
Considering a concrete mix proportion (by volume) of
1:2:4::cement:fine aggregate:Coarge Aggregate
cement required = 01 bag = 36 liters = 50 kg
Fine Aggregate required = 02*36 = 72 ltr.= 72*1.6 = 115 kg
Coarse Aggregate required = 04*36 = 144 ltr.=144*1.45= 209 kg
considering water - cement ratio (w/c) of 0.55 ,water = 0.55*50 = 27.5 kg
The volume proportion in weight tuns out to be
1:2:4 :: 50:115:209 , Water= 27.5
Total weight of concrete ingredients = 401.5 say 400 kg
Density of concrete = 2400 kg/cum
1 bag of cement produces = 400/2400 = 0.167 cum
How many bags of cement to make 1m3 of concrete?
Number of bags of cement to make 1m3 of concrete = 1/0.167 = 6 bags
From above, if the concrete mix is 1:2:4 ,to get a cubic meter of concrete we require
1.Cement = 6 bags = 300 kgs.
2.Fine Aggregate = 115/0.167 = 689 kg
3.Coarse Aggregate = 209/0.167 = 1252 kg.
4.Water = 300*0.55 = 165 kg.
I hope you have studied how to calculate how many bags of cement to make 1m3 of concrete.
